About Laura

Laura Cohen, Family First’s Executive Director, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Masters Degree in Social Work from Yeshiva University’s Wurzweiler School of Social Work.

She has extensive experience as a child and family therapist and as a supervisor for other child and family therapists.

She has a certificate in Adoption Therapy from Rutgers University .  In addition to developing anger-management programs, Laura has trained other therapists in leading anger-management groups. She has led anger management, social skills, grief, and trauma groups. She has provided training on Panic Disorder and Anger Management in the community.    

Laura's specialties:

Laura has been practicing as a therapist since 1994 and established Family First in 2005 with the express goal of helping families through periods of turmoil and stress by providing the comfort, compassion, and skills of professional therapy.  

Laura says, "Helping both individuals and families bond and grow closer together is both a fulfilling and rewarding experience.  When a client smiles and says, "thank you", I too smile and am warmed knowing that I have had a positive impact on someone's "happiness factor".  That makes me very proud, both personally and professionally."

Laura provides therapy in her office in Freehold.
